The molecule consists of three rings connected in sequence.

Ring A - Pyridine
- A six-membered aromatic ring containing one nitrogen atom.
- The carbon meta to the pyridine nitrogen bears a chlorine atom.
- The carbon para to the pyridine nitrogen is linked to Ring B.

Ring B - Piperazine
- A six-membered saturated ring with two nitrogens in opposite positions.
- One nitrogen is directly bonded to Ring A.
- The other nitrogen is bonded through a carbonyl linker (-C(=O)-) to Ring C.

Ring C - Benzene
- An aromatic six-membered ring.
- At the carbon meta to the carbonyl attachment point, the ring carries a methoxycarbonyl substituent (the ring carbon connects to a carbonyl carbon -C(=O)-, which further connects to a methoxy group).
