The issue focused around voluntary manslaughter charges brought against Raymond Duffy by Deputy Provincial Prosecutor Judith McCormick after Duffy pleaded guilty last December to manslaughter charges stemming from her drunken driving conviction in 2003. Duffy pleaded guilty on Dec. 21 and pleaded guilty Oct. 29 to manslaughter charges stemming from her DUI conviction in 2002. McCormick testified Duffy testified during Duffy's sentencing hearing last December that Duffy drove recklessly because she believed Duffy should have stayed behind bars longer because she believed Duffy should have avoided prosecution because she feared losing custody of her newborn
