The issue focused on digital cameras with sensors smaller than 16 megapixels and smartphones with processors faster than 2 GHz. Some phones made before 2009 use technologies called CMOS technology that enable computers to capture digital images without hardware pixels. By enabling machines to compute algorithms based on machine learning algorithms, devices such as iPhones can generate highly accurate digital photos even when computing software cannot recognize faces or bodies. In December 2013, Apple Computer sued Motorola Mobility over patent infringement claims relating to smartphones using chipmaking technologies patented by Motorola Mobility.
