The issue focused on digital technologies that Microsoft already offered Windows PCs and smartphones to consumers in various markets. But PC makers such as Lenovo are pushing Windows 10 into phones, laptops and tablets with devices including Chromebooks and iPads.

Microsoft won't immediately answer questions about whether Windows 10 devices would support cameras or microphones as expected by software engineers who wrote systems software for desktop computers. Microsoft did say Windows 10 devices could include sensors like lasers and gyroscopes that enable machines to detect objects like bikes and cars.
