The issue focused on technology that Microsoft Windows devices could use to store digital files. The software giant had plans to install hardware devices with internet access and computers designed to carry digital music, movies and video content.

That technology has now been abandoned in favor of Internet Explorer 10, which uses browsers based on Microsoft's technologies. Windows devices would then have to connect to the Internet using Windows Internet Explorer or Internet Explorer 7.5.

Some computer programmers working for Microsoft felt that Internet Explorer was too slow and Microsoft
