The movie is not only notable for its primary role in ending slavery, but also its role in transforming that episode into one of the best-known scenes in film history: the famous slavery rape scene featuring Karen Black as slavery rebel Sally Hemings. Most of this role comes from real-life abolitionist preacher Harriet Tubman, who was one of the best known voices for the film, as were her sister Sarah and brother Frank, who played her husband and slave owner, respectively.


The scene was
