The issue focused on digital versions of the same video files. While video recordings recorded on a computer have the potential to store digital information which can be viewed via the internet through streaming applications such as YouTube or BitTorrent file sharing software, the format used to store such material differs from the traditional video files commonly available on DVD or Blu-ray discs. For example, DVD copies of Avatar and Star Trek could be considered to be a digital version of their DVD versions but still contain the video files for which they were made.
