The issue focused on how authorities should handle some social media posts that allow people to start arguments that go well beyond free speech, according to a lawsuit filed Friday by attorney Tamara Lawford of the Supreme Court Environmental Legal Institute of California.


Some commenters have been warned against them by the courts for unlawful threats, Lawford wrote in court papers filed Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court. Others who are prosecuted are unregistered social media users who have not been declared to be the target of a civil or criminal investigation
