The issue focused on the hiring practices of University of Texas System Board of Regents members in the wake of allegations that former board member Tim Wiggins raped a former student and has subsequently lost his job.


The university was then facing an investigation by the state Education Department into its hiring practices and was accused of not training its students on sexual assault and how to identify and report such acts. Those allegations led to several suspensions for Wiggins and other members of the board of regents and another student-initiated investigation
