The issue focused on the claims that the Japanese manufacturer could not work with other European manufacturers after Ferrari had signed up to supply its new C32 Monza-spec car next year.


That came after McLaren's own project known as the CLM P2 focused on an immediate and dramatic reduction of cost to produce the technology of its 8-litre power unit for a start in 2017. The latter team tested that technology on its proposed new power unit development programme at the Le Mans 24 Hours in November.
