The issue focused by Mr. Bhatt was whether the government would take steps to prevent the "lax enforcement" of rules on land acquisition and development by developers who were not registered with the land department. He asked the government to consider a "zero tolerance" approach for those whose land is acquired without the proper permits.

The minister, who has taken over from the minister of state for land and forests, said the ministry was taking a number of steps to address the issue of lax enforcement of rules.
