The issue focused on three things: whether people should be allowed to have guns while traveling and if they should be permitted to own guns.

In a letter to the House Judiciary Committee, House Judiciary Chairman Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., said a ban on guns while traveling is "in the best interest of public safety, especially as our nation moves toward more gun control legislation."
