The patient has a T3 esophageal carcinoma, which was planned for primary radiochemotherapy. During the planning CT scan for the esophageal carcinoma, an unclear mass in the area of the vallecula and the base of the tongue was noticed, which was to be clarified by an ENT specialist. The ENT specialist then took an external sample from the left palatal arch. The histology revealed carcinoma in situ, hence the indication for the above-mentioned procedure.
