Alice was just thinking about this, and was wondering how much of an issue this was going to be. He was about to respond when they heard a loud crashing sound and Alice saw Alice’s uncle and their cousin fall to the ground. After Alice and Jake got over their shock, they both saw the dog that had been chasing Alice. Alice had only briefly had a good look at him as her and Jake had been in another world and didn’t really take time to appreciate all the details. She thought that the dog had a long, wavy and silky orange-red coat, a very dark brown muzzle, and white markings. That meant he was most likely a mutt. He stood up as soon as Alice had regained her feet and made his way over to them. He was a big, powerful animal, and Alice was sure that he would want to play some kind of rough game.

‘Hi, Jake,’ she said. The mutt stopped and looked at them.

‘Hi, Alice. You were just about to say something.’ Alice’s uncle looked over at her.

‘I was about to tell you not to worry. I’m sure that you’re family will be able to look after yourself. Maybe even look after us in a fight. You don’t have to be frightened
