This is not to say there are not other factors in determining whether someone ends up an alcoholic, a smoker, or an overeater, but there are probably some in the genes. If it is, then what? Should we blame our parents for our choices?

I do not know what is in my own genes or what my children will inherit, but I do not see any need for either genetic testing or genetic engineering to give you an answer. I want to know whether there is an increase in cancer risk in the family line or a decrease, but I do not see a need for genetic testing or screening to prevent you from getting breast cancer or colon cancer.

  3. I've heard and read of a few stories where a parent had to be told they carried the gene for cancer and their child was given an increased chance of developing it or had a chance to be screened and removed (as in the case of Angelina Jolie's decision to have a double mastectomy after
