This is also where the word ‘hedge’ came into my life, a name of a flower that is not actually a flower at all but the name of my blog.
In fact, I was searching for this word so I could see if I could identify it and I just happened to stumble upon the spelling ‘hedge’, my first thought was that it sounded like a noun, and not a verb, so I went with it.

But then when I was searching on Google, it was just a question of where it came from.
In fact, there are no specific records from the past or present for the plant ‘hedge’, which is not native to this country, but there are for another one that has been in existence since the 1700’s that is commonly called the ‘saddle’. But that is another story.
For the hedge to be named ‘hedge’, the name had to have been around at least twice.
The first time around, the plant was called ‘Saddle Tree’, but there were no records, no records of the plant at all in our records.
So, I looked into the history and I found this:
‘Saddle Tree’ was also used as an actual name, and there were no records for that plant when the plant was alive
