Why not go with something like a 2 in 1, i.e. detachable keyboard or laptop with a touch screen. The keyboard will help with things like code, and the screen could come off to have a small tablet in its place. That way you have a device you can easily take with you in tablet form, but also use a keyboard for longer form work (or at least something more than a keyboard)

Just an idea if you like code, but you do need to think carefully about what you'll want to do. I've tried to make the "perfect laptop" a few times, and so far only thing I've got that is near is a 10" tablet, a bluetooth keyboard, and an i5 Chromebook Pixel with LTE. The only major problem is that the tablet is Android, and the keyboard is Mac OS (which is not a problem if I'm using the Chromebook).

If you want to do more of an artistic and creative job, I would probably recommend a mac or PC laptop with a large screen - but I say this as a long time windows user.

If you want more of a productivity and organisational platform, I would definitely recommend an iPad with the keyboard.
