Abstract: Highlights•We present FastBlock to speed up the execution and validation steps of blockchains by introducing fine-grained concurrency.•We improve the security and functionality of FastBlock by introducing the nonce mechanism into concurrent transactions.•We empirically study the impact of concurrency on Ethereums.•The FastBlock outperforms state-of-art solutions significantly in performance.
