Abstract: Highlights•We analyze the difficulty of BC-FER and try to address it by leveraging soft labels.•We propose an ISLM framework to generate soft targets automatically.•We design an ECSL loss to leverage prior knowledge of expression correlation.•We achieve state-of-the-art performance on three databases.
