NIMOC: A design and analysis tool for supersonic nozzles under non-ideal compressible flow conditions

Abstract: Highlights•NIMOC is a nozzle design and analysis tool for non-ideal nozzle flows.•“NIMOC” stands for “Non-Ideal Method Of Characteristics”.•The MOC is coupled with a SLC method to perform full-nozzle simulations.•Fluid thermodynamics is described by state-of-the-art Equations of State.•Straight-axis (axi)symmetric and curved-meanline asymmetric nozzles are simulated.•Design highlight: flow non-ideality influences the shape and scaling of nozzle walls.•Analysis highlight: predictions are of comparable level of fidelity as inviscid CFD.
