Abstract: Highlights•A new remotely operated vehicle (ROV) teleoperation method based on telepresence and sensory augmentation.•Hydrodynamic features in underwater environment are modeled with virtual reality and physics engine.•A haptic system with 40 vibrators is programed to transfer feelings of hydrodynamic features to human operators.•The proposed ROV teleoperation technology will lower technical barriers and enhance training.
