Abstract: Highlights•Genetic algorithm is utilized to solve multi-fault localization problem.•A highly flexible framework FSMFL is implemented for fault localization.•A novel fitness function is designed for the purpose of multi-fault localization.•A large-scale benchmark with both single- and multi-fault programs is built.•8 single-fault and multi-fault localization approaches are compared with FSMFL.
