Abstract: Highlights•A causal association rule discovery algorithm is proposed for drug-drug interaction problem.•The properties of V-structures in causality are effectively utilized in the search for causal associations.•The proposed algorithm identifies more drug interactions in FDA adverse event reporting system compared to AR.
