Abstract: Highlights•We examine the causal mechanisms behind hierarchical multi-granularity classification (HMC).•We propose Deconf-HMC for eliminating confounding biases inherent in HMC.•Experimental results demonstrate the superiority of the proposed Deconf-HMC.
