A data analytic approach to quantifying scientific impact

Abstract: Highlights•A simple yet effective and robust data analytic method of predicting future citations of individual papers is proposed.•With short-term citation data, the proposed approach can give accurate prediction of future citations, outperforming the state-of-the-art significantly.•Extensive experiment results are presented to confirm the robustness of the proposed approach across various journals of different disciplines.
