Abstract: In this work, we have proposed to partition a channel into a narrow and a wide subchannel for overcoming MAC overheads. The narrow subchannel is used for sending short packets and the wide channel is used for sending long packets. We have proposed a centralized algorithm for partitioning the channel and have discussed some interesting problems when extending this to a distributed algorithm.
