Abstract: In this paper, a new spread spectrum-based embedding modulation approach, which we call host rejected spread spectrum (HRSS), is presented to efficiently remove the noise-source effect of the host signal in decoding the hidden message bits. The proposed HRSS could improve the decoding performance in terms of bit error rate. To further improve the decoding performance of the HRSS under distortions (which can be modeled as additive noise), an improved host rejected spread spectrum (IHRSS) is introduced. Simulation results demonstrate the superior performances of the proposed embedding schemes for data hiding.
