Abstract: Highlights•An adaptive online data-driven close-loop parameter control strategy is proposed for swarm intelligence algorithms.•The PID controller is adopted to adjust the parameter according to the difference of reference and feedback.•The clustering and entropy of the population are designed as feedbacks to reflect the state of evolution.•The references are determined by the fitness landscape analysis, the decision tree, the range of convergence entropy and extension entropy.
