Abstract: Highlights•Our proposed method for generating typography by inputting music is data-driven and focuses on non-parameterized typefaces, such as calligraphy characters. This approach aims to bridge the gap between musical rhythm and typography layout.•We introduced Inkphony, an intelligent human–computer co-creation system for visualizing music through typeface elements. Our system specifically includes emotional factors to generate typography that reflects the user’s emotions.•We conducted three experiments to evaluate the effectiveness of Inkphony. Our results demonstrate that the generated typography accurately conveys different levels of emotion, and people perceive a connection between typography and music.
