Abstract: Highlights•We apply a hidden trajectory model to statistical parametric speech synthesis.•This method adopts formant trajectories as a hidden and intermediate level.•This method can achieve better naturalness of synthetic speech than HMM-based system.•The proposed method can control the characteristic of synthetic speech effectively.
