Measuring cognitive load by a score-based causal network model with multichannel physiological signals
Abstract: Highlights•We propose score-based causal representation model to address cognitive load measurement.•Spatio-temporal representation learning with position encoding is proposed to address challenges in capturing multi-channel physiological signal dynamics.•A Markov-constrained causal network is introduced to disentangle causal and task-irrelevant features.•A reconstruction network for dimensionality reduction is developed to overcome non-convex optimization hurdles in causal structure search.•Experiments on two public and one in-house dataset demonstrate superior performance over existing methods in cognitive load measurement.
