A MILP-based approach to address the production and distribution planning of large industrial gas supply chains
Abstract: Highlights•A new mathematical approach to tackle the production inventory and routing problem of industrial gas supply chains.•The framework introduces an efficient route generation algorithm to initially create a set of viable routes, ensuring that only routes with practical significance are taken into account.•The formulation explicitly considers multiple decisions connected with: plants production levels, plant selection to supply the different consumers, clients to be visited per trip and day, quantity to be delivered and routes to be used.•The performance of the proposed MILP-based approach is positively tested with two case studies: one small case and other of industrial size.
