Abstract: Highlights•A multi-prediction scheme is designed to calculate multiple prediction values for the current pixel.•An asymmetric selection function is defined to choose the suitable value from these prediction values.•An asymmetric error histogram is constructed by generating all the selected values.•We propose a complementary embedding strategy by combining two asymmetric error histograms.
