Three-Dimensional Skeleton Extraction by Point Set Contraction

Abstract: In this paper, a skeleton extraction method for unstructured three-dimensional data is presented. The algorithm is based on a point set contraction procedure and is proved to be robust to noise and coarse resolution of original data. Preliminary experiments performed on both synthetic and real data are provided, showing the goodness of the proposed method.
