Mechanical stimulation of cochlea for treatment of hearing loss: Comparison between forward stimulation and reverse stimulation with an active cochlear model
Abstract: Highlights•A human ear model with cochlear active amplification and third windows is developed.•The cochlear response difference in medium forward and reverse stimulation increases with decreasing active amplification.•Conductive hearing loss has a strong effect on forward stimulation and a weak effect on reverse stimulation.•Sensorineural hearing loss has a significant effect on both forward and reverse stimulation, but decreases to zero as the stimulation amplitude increases.
