Abstract: Highlights•A hybrid prediction-based pixel-value-ordering method is proposed for reversible data hiding.•The proposed hybrid prediction method effectively combines rhombus prediction and pixel-wise prediction.•A modified embedding scheme based on multiple histograms is presented for adaptive embedding.•The proposed method shows superior performance in both embedding capacity and quality.
