Abstract: Highlights•We propose an online KD framework that enhances SOTA fine-grained FIR methods by extracting stronger image embeddings.•We propose an effective MKD strategy that outperforms typical KD strategies when applied to SOTA fine-grained FIR methods.•Experiments show that the proposed methods can consistently significantly improve the SOTA fine-grained FIR methods on three datasets.
