Abstract: This paper considers the optimal equalization for FIR channels with random uncertainty arising from wireless communications. We shall first present a result that quantifies the mean H/sub 2/ norm of random FIR channels in terms of linear matrix inequalities. The result allows us to solve the optimal H/sub 2/ equalization problem via convex optimization. Simulations are carried out for both the real and complex channels and the results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed equalization technique.
