Abstract: Highlights•Prejudices are both essential for reasoning quickly and dangerous for jumping too blindly to conclusions.•Prejudices are meta information that governs the integration of new beliefs, characterized by the targeted information and their tenacity.•Dempster-Shafer theory can be used to formalize this evolution on the basis of the revision and retraction operators.•Evolutionary prejudices occur in information fusion contexts like social-choice theory, semi-autonomous vehicles or image analysis.
