Traffic signal control under stochastic traffic demand and vehicle turning via decentralized decomposition approaches
Abstract: Highlights•We use a cell transmission model to control traffic signals at multiple intersections.•We maximize vehicle throughput on corridors or road networks, under stochastic traffic demand and vehicle turning.•We formulate a two-stage stochastic mixed-integer linear program using finite samples.•We combine Benders decomposition with ADMM to develop distributed algorithms.•We test randomly generated and real-world traffic instances to show the effectiveness of our approach.
