Abstract: Scientific workflow is mainly supported in many development and execution environments corresponding to specific domains. Although there are many differences among those environments, some consensuses have been achieved to a certain extent in the following parts of scientific workflow IDE(Integrated Development Environment): workflow languages and representations, workflow executors, and execution environments. As all consideration about a workflow should be mapped to the source code or graph, it is difficult for experts to complete a workflow with no negligence or errors. As a result, knowledge should be embraced in scientific workflow IDE from the three essential elements of a workflow language: syntax, semantics, and pragmatics. According to knowledge tips provided by experts, scientific workflow IDE can help them to develop their scientific workflows in a straightforward and iterative way through the interaction with IDE.
