Parameter adaptive unit-linking pulse coupled neural network based MRI-PET/SPECT image fusion

Abstract: Highlights•A novel parameter adaptive unit-linking PCNN (PAULPCNN) model is proposed.•A new distance-weighted regional energy (DWRE)-based measure is presented.•A medical image fusion method is proposed in the NSST domain by PAULPCNN and DWRE.•Objective score is introduced to quantitatively compare different methods.•Diverse gray-scale and pseudo-color medical image sets are used in the experiments.
