Towards J.A.R.V.I.S. for Software Engineering: Lessons Learned in Implementing a Natural Language Chat Interface

Abstract: Virtual assistants have demonstrated the potential to significantly improve the digital experiences of information technology workers. We, at Phase Change Software, are working on developing a virtual assistant MIA that helps software developers with program comprehension. This work summarizes the key lessons learned and identifies open questions during the initial implementation of the MIA chat interface.
