Abstract: Highlights•We proposed wavelet channel attention network (WCANet) that can enhance the local feature extraction ability of the model.•The WCANet effectively improves the performance of fine-grained recognition of citrus varieties.•The WCANet outperforms other state-of-the-art models including attention models and fine-grained visual classification (FGVC) models.
