A survey of fall detection model based on wearable sensor

Abstract: Falls are the leading cause of injury deaths and injury-related hospitalization among elderly people. Due to the high impact of falls on health and healthcare costs, much research has been done on the topic of fall detection in the past decade. wearable sensors Inertial Measurement Units (IMU) (e.g. accelerometers and gyroscopes) are widely used in fall detection for the convenient. This paper is aimed to survey recent research based on the wearable fall detection model, introduced from the perspectives of data collection, feature extraction and classification method, finally a series of technical indicators for fall detection performance evaluation are summarized.
