Abstract: Highlights•Fusion of LiDAR point cloud and image can improve detection performance of CNN.•Two interpolation algorithms are used to enhance point cloud feature.•A light weight CNN model consists of hourglass and parallel dilated convolution.•SaccadeFork is tested on both the public dataset KITTI and local platform.•Low-cost multi-sensor fusion can achieve similar performance of a Velodyne-64E.
