Abstract: Highlights•Maximum immune coverage algorithm is proposed for wireless sensor networks.•Immune multipath are presented to establish multiple paths from the source node to the destination node.•Multipath decoupling strategy is proposed to lower the importance degree of joint node.•IM2DCA can get the maximum network coverage and improve the performance of transmission robustness and fault tolerance.
