SU2-COOL: Open-source framework for non-ideal compressible fluid dynamics

Abstract: Highlights•A wrapper of the open-source thermophysical CoolProp library is developed for the CFD toolkit SU2.•SU2 for non-ideal flows is extended to technical and reference thermodynamic models in a fully open-source environment.•Numerical results are verified against the Method of Characteristics and experimental data.•Performance of the new framework is assessed from different aspects.•The open-source software and all data required to replicate the present results are available from GitHub repositories.
