Abstract: In modern society, more and more people are suffering from sleep problems. However, sleep monitoring equipment in hospital is usually large, expensive, and difficult to operate, which is not suitable for everyday monitoring of sleep quality in home environment. Therefore, we developed a wristwatch-type sleep monitoring device which is small, low-cost and easy to operate. The device is based on the microcontroller STM32F103C8T6, using the accelerometer MPU6050 to collect body motion signals and the integrated photosensor MAX30102 to collect heart rate and blood oxygen saturation (SpO2), and the collected data are real-time displayed on a mini OLED screen. On the other hand, the collected signals of pulse wave, SpO2 and body motion are transmitted to Baidu Internet of Things (IoT) Hub and can be accessed by smartphones and computers that connected to it. On the smartphone, an app was developed to access the data and present them in comprehensible charts for users. On the computer, a program was developed to access the data, analyze the sleep stage and assess the sleep quality. After testing, the system ran well. The wristwatch-type device successfully collected signals in real time and transmitted them to Baidu IoT Hub. The smartphone and the computer successfully accessed these data via Baidu IoT Hub for further analysis such as presenting in charts and assessing the sleep quality. The wristwatch device is small and light, easy to carry around, and the user can observe his/her own sleep data anytime anywhere through smartphones or computers. We think it is especially useful for people to monitor their sleep qualities in home environment.
