Mobility in online communities: a case study of mobile BBS in use in China

Abstract: Despite the extensive effort in creating mobile community services, little has been done to understand what increased mobility implies. In this paper, we focus on a Bulletin Board System (BBS) based online community of a Chinese university, and report a study of the use of its mobile client. We end by drawing implications and conclusions for extending online communities to the mobile environment.
